Meet Dr. Jada Rhymes-Bacoat
Family & Lifestyle Physician in Columbus, GA
I listen to my patients. We work together to form their best individualized care plan.
I was raised by my mother in the small town of Vidalia, Georgia where my family physician, like many others, was an extended member of the family. I knew at age twelve that I wanted to be a primary care provider. I attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia for my undergraduate degree. I attended Ross University School of Medicine in the Caribbean. I trained at UAB Selma Family Medicine in Selma, Alabama. I am board certified in Family Medicine. During my training, I noted the large amount of medications prescribed to reach suboptimal control of hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol. I realized patients were not compliant with lifestyle modifications recommended due to not having simple and specific instructions. This was the beginning of me realizing where my passion and impact would lie throughout my career.
After marrying my husband, Donald Bacoat, we moved to Columbus, Georgia. I worked as a full-time hospitalist for three and a half years. During this time I realized the dire need for more primary care providers. Not long after giving birth to my son, I decided to transition from the hospital to primary care. My passion for improving the quality of life for patients is the driving force for my practice. I partner with my patients to make life style modifications an integral part of each individualized care plan. My passion is focusing on the “whole person” and helping patients navigate their healthcare through collaborative efforts.
